Words into Action: Spotlight on Veterans

In
honor of the approximately 22,000 veterans who call Howard County home, the
Volunteer Center Serving Howard County will host “Words into Action: Spotlight
on Veterans” from 7:00
to 8:30 pm  on Wednesday, July 24.
This event will take place in Columbia, and will
feature speakers and organizations who engage veterans as volunteers and engage
civilians of all stripes in volunteer service to veterans.

Among our featured organizations will be
Team Rubicon, which was the subject of a recent Time
magazine cover article
, and The 6th Branch, which recently won a Chase
Community Giving grant.  Operation
Military Kids and Fort Meade’s Army Community Services will also be on hand to
share information about volunteer opportunities.

The Volunteer Center is proud that its
community partners, including vCaring, La Casa De Sweets and Neighbor Ride, are
providing funding, catering and space for this important event. To learn more
