Michael Maurice Johnson of Baltimore was found guilty of second-degree murder.

A jury Wednesday found a Baltimore man guilty of second-degree murder in the case of Phylicia Barnes, a teen whose body was found in the Susquehanna River in 2011, according to The Baltimore Sun. Michael Maurice Johnson, 29, of Baltimore, who had dated Barnes' half-sister Deena for several years, was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in April. Lawyers say the 16-year-old honor student was shown "intoxicated" in a video with her accused killer, according to news reports.

Prosecutors in the case against the accused killer of Phylicia Barnes will show a video at trial depicting the teenage victim “intoxicated and engaging in sexual relations” with her accused killer and others, the Baltimore Sun reports. News Reports: Slain Phylicia Barnes May Have Been Child Porn Victim

The FBI is said to be investigating a connection between the 16-year-old honor student and Baltimore men.

The FBI is investigating whether slain teenager Phylicia Barnes, whose body was discovered in the Susquehanna River in Harford County in April, may have been a victim of child pornographers in Baltimore, ABC News reported. Federal investigators were seeking access to Barnes’ accounts on e-mail and Facebook as well as accounts of four Baltimore men, according to a report from ABC News affiliate WSOC-TV in Charlotte, N.C. Barnes, 16, was an honor student from Monroe, N.C., and was visiting her half-sister in Baltimore when she went missing three days after Christmas. No one has the right to literally take a life a person what-so-ever! I am so irate over the fact that things of this nature is happening. But what can we do, other than hope for the best and let justice do the work and bring closure to the family as well as those who are concern. I pray for the family to Phylicia Barnes, I really and truly do. (so sad)   more ›

Volunteers Find Man’s Body in Search for Missing Teen

Maryland State Police took over investigation of a body found at Patapsco State Park, but search for missing teen turned up nothing.

Maryland State Police announced Saturday afternoon that the body of an unidentified man was found at Patapsco State Park during a massive search for Phylicia Barnes, a teenage girl missing from the Baltimore area since December. Police said foul play is not suspected but an investigation will continue as the body is transported for identification and autopsy. The man was wearing “multiple layers of clothing” and his body was partially decayed, according to police. The Barnes search, however, did not result in any relevant findings, according to Baltimore Police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, who spoke to reporters near Patapsco State Park. “We are working around the clock… to try and bring some closure to this,” Guglielmi said. Search for Missing Teen Reaches Howard County

Police, FBI agents, volunteers and dogs searched for Phylicia Barnes, a North Carolina teen who went missing from the Baltimore area in December.

As reported in the Baltimore Sun, hundreds of police officers and volunteers this morning started the second search effort for Phylicia Barnes, who went missing in December after visiting a relative in Baltimore, at Patapsco Valley State Park. Investigators have said they do not have any reliable tips that provide a particular location for the girl’s whereabouts, but have “actionable intelligence” which led them to the park. The Sun reports the search started near Ilchester Road, south of Ellicott City and Catonsville, because investigators "identified this as an area of interest. It was associated with one of the people of interest we talked to, one of the 30 people who last saw Phylicia." An initial search in the area occurred earlier in…
