Columbia Indecent exposure Police say several young girls did not notice a man in the Columbia Mall with his pants unzipped, exposing himself on Jan. 13 at about 2:30 p.m. A witness saw the man following the girls, however, and called police. Police said they could not locate the girls, or the suspect. He is described as a white male in his 50s, between 5-foot-6 and 6-feet-tall, weighing about 250lbs. He had thinning, brown/gray hair that was parted on the side. Columbia Street robbery/attempted robbery Howard County Police say two men were leaving the Exxon store near the 6000 block of Foreland Garth on Dec. 14 just after 8 p.m. when two men approached them and began punching them. The assailants tried to reach into the men’s pockets and take their money, police said. When the two victims ran to the back of the gas station, they encountered two additional men who began punching and throwing rocks at them, according to police. Columbia Commercial burglary A week and a half after two employees at Zips Dry Cleaners on the 10700 block of Little Patuxent Parkway were tied up and robbed at gunpoint, the business was again targeted by criminals, according to police. On Nov. 20 at about 10:45 p.m., police responded to an alarm at the business. When they arrive, officers found the business secure. Video surveillance, however, showed two people trying to pry open a door to the business using a crowbar. The suspects left when they could not open the door. Columbia Robbery For the second time in a month, a robbery has been reported on the footbridge over Route 29. Police say the victim was walking on the lakefront side when two people approached him, asking for a cigarette. Then, according to police, they stole the victim’s iPhone and wallet. They did not display or imply weapons. Columbia Robbery - Home invasion A resident on the 7500 block of Monarch Mills Way told police that someone he knew had wanted to trade shoes with him, but he declined. Then, at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, he said two teenagers came to his apartment and forced their way in. According to police, one of the two had a gun. The teenagers stole two pairs of shoes, according to police. The 16- and 17-year-old brothers, both of whom live on the same street as the victim, were arrested and face several burglary and robbery charges, one gun charge and one assault charge. Columbia: Howard County Police are looking for three suspects in connection with a robbery on the Route 29 footbridge who may also have been involved with an attempted break-in on Swift Stream Place. Just before 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 20, police were called to the 10300 block of Swift Stream Place for reports of men turning doorknobs along the hallway. Columbia: Nothing was reported missing at a house on the 6100 block of Wooded Run Drive, but when residents returned home from a trip, they said they found a back window had been shattered sometime between Oct. 12 and Oct. 15. According to Howard County police, there were pry marks on rear sliding glass doors and on both sides of the window. Several rooms were ransacked, according to police, but nothing has been reported stolen. Police responded to a house on the 10200 block of Hickory Ridge Road just before 5 p.m. on Oct. 18. Attempted Robbery A River Hill High School student was reportedly walking home after a school activity near the 5700 block of Whistling Winds Walk when an unknown suspect allegedly grabbed her backpack from behind on Sept. 28 around 9 p.m. The victim kicked the male suspect, who fled into the woods.
