Ulman to Make Good on Redskins/ Ravens Bet

After losing a bet, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman said he'd be picking up trash in Prince George's wearing a Redskins jersey.

County Executive Ken Ulman said he plans to be in Prince George's County later this week picking up trash while singing 'Hail to the Redskins' and wearing a Redskins jersey after losing a bet to Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker. Ulman is scheduled to make good on the bet on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Wayne Curry Sports and Learning Center in Landover. In a YouTube video released on Monday, Ulman said, "I'm having a tough, tough day. As you know the Ravens lost, and I lost my bet to [Baker]." Last week, Ulman challenged Baker to a bet that his favorite football team, the Ravens, would beat Baker's Redskins. On Sunday, the Redskins pulled off a 31-28 dramatic come-from-behind win in overtime. Now, Ulman is asking for a …

Watch: The 2012 Columbia Fireworks Finale

What did you think of the fireworks show put on by Howard County at the Columbia Lakefront?

Despite thunderstorm threats and sweltering heat, the 4th of July fireworks show at the Columbia Lakefront took place without a hitch. The finale, as seen in the video above, was a rousing display coordinated to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. YouTube user stepwise69 shot the video from a nice spot at the Lakefront and uploaded it on Thursday. In the video, you can hear the fireworks going off in place of the cannon sounds that are typically used for the 1812 Overture and the loud screams of the crowd as the finale comes to an end. The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks estimated between 20,000 and 25,000 people attended the 4th of July festivities at the Lakefront. The total cost of the event to the county was $41,150, which …

Long Reach YouTube Videos Removed

Two videos purporting to show students in questionable activities outside Long Reach High School have been removed.

Two videos showing students involved in questionable activities outside Long Reach High School have been removed following publicity about a videotaped fight at the school between an intruder and a student. One video showed a boy spitting on one of the high school’s doors. Another video showed a dejected looking student with water dripping from his chin. Teens in the video say someone poured water on him; he stands still as a group of kids seem to accost him. A girl in the background says, “I feel so bad.” A third video allegedly shot in a Long Reach classroom, which hasn't been removed, shows a boy and girl swearing at each other as a teacher unsuccessfully attempts to silence them. Patch contacted Patti Caplan, spokesperson for Howard …

It did Corey, hence my response. I'm sure that you mean well, and I think that some of your comments and ideas have meritt, but I can't stand when people paint with a broad brush. Unfortunately, it seems as though that is par for the course in Howard county. Rumor, gosip, and generaizations all become fact around here.   more ›
