Landscaper Dies on the Job in Clarksville

Michael Dingle, of Catonsville, owned Natural Way Design and Landscaping.

The owner of a Catonsville landscaping company who was cutting down a tree in Clarksville fell to his death along with part of the tree Tuesday, according to Howard County Police. Police found Michael Joseph Dingle, 40, unconscious and not breathing when they responded to the 8500 block of Reservoir Road just after 10 a.m.  According to police, Dingle, owner of Natural Way Design and Landscaping, was working in a tree with all of the rigging attached. Police say Dingle and his employee removed the top 15 – 20 feet of the tree; it went as planned. After removing the top of the tree, however, the trunk uprooted, according to police. Keep Your Christmas Tree from Becoming a Tinderbox

The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services wants you to see the difference between a dried-out tree and one that's been well-kept.

When it comes to Christmas trees, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has some tips to help you stay safe On its Facebook page, HCDFRS lists these tips to reduce the chance of a tree going up in flames: Howard County's Merry Mulch recycling program has, since 1993, helped residents recycle trees for free. The trees are delivered to a compost facility where they are recycled into compost and mulch. Check back with Patch in a few weeks for updated information on Merry Mulch.
