Didn't plan a whole weekend away? Here are a few places where you can go to for just the day.
Not everyone plans a getaway for Memorial Day weekend. But if you don't want to be stuck in the house with the kids for three days, a solidly-planned day trip with the family may do you some good. To avoid traffic, don't travel Friday evening through Saturday morning and Sunday evening through Monday. Which leaves Saturday and Sunday as days to take one of these day trips. Being a native Delawarean, I will tell you that Delaware Beaches are the best. (It's OK, I listed my biases in my profile.) Whether you live in Columbia or are visiting to do your holiday shopping, most people in the area know Columbia is a hub for major outlets. The mall is home to Sears, Lord and Taylor Nordstrom, the Apple Store and over 100 other stores.
