The Tennessee Titans weren't very successful but Columbia's Zach Brown played well.
Last year, Wilde Lake High School graduate Zach Brown was selected in the second round of the NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans, 52nd overall. Entering the season, his speed was described as his greatest asset. Brown ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, one of the fastest times ever ran by a linebacker. In high school, Brown was the Maryland state champion in the 100- and 200- yard dash. His former football coach at Wilde Lake, Doug Duvall, said that if football didn’t work out, Brown could be an Olympian in the decathlon because he was such a great athlete. Wilde Lake grad Zach Brown caught his first NFL interception for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, but was tackled by Miami's quarterback.
Columbia's Zach Brown may be one of the fastest players on the football field when he suits up for the Tennessee Titans, but this past weekend his speed wasn't enough. On Sunday, he recorded his first NFL interception against the Miami Dolphins, but the speedy linebacker was unable to beat one person—Dolphins' quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The Tennessee Titans selected the former Wilde Lake star with the 52nd pick of the NFL Draft.
Zach Brown was drafted by the Tennessee Titans 52nd overall in the NFL Draft on Friday night. He was surrounded by friends and family at the Greene Turtle in Columbia. When his name was announced, the bar erupted into cheers and applause. Brown started to cry. "I said I wasn't going to cry," said Brown, who will play linebacker for the Titans, "But everybody cries." Shortly before Brown's name was announced, he received a phone call from the Titans and he broke into a smile and began to hug his friends.
