What is the right age to reveal the truth about the jolly old elf?
It is undeniably Christmas time, as evidenced by the decorated houses, Christmas tree lots popping up and Santas setting up shop in department stores and malls. For many small children, Santa Claus is a big part of the holiday. Kids pose on his lap for photos, write letters will detailed gift requests and try to be on their best behavior to avoid the naughty list. The big guy in red is a hot topic of conversation for those who celebrate and have little ones, which begs the question, when do you reveal the truth about the Santa myth? Every year, millions of children sit down to make a wish list for Santa, hoping he will make all of their Christmas dreams come true. But what if Santa actually wrote back? The U.S. Postal Service is now accepting "Letters From Santa," a program that allows any person to play Santa by sending a letter signed by St. Nick to any child. According to a postal service news release, "The 'Letters From Santa' program helps parents fulfill the dreams of their own children." Construction began on the poinsettia tree Thursday while Santa made his grand entrance.
Santa Claus has arrived at the Mall in Columbia. "It took us no time at all to get here," said Santa about his trip from the North Pole as he sat in a red chair in the middle of the first floor of the Mall in Columbia. "Mortimer the elf flies Santa down and then takes the sleigh to a nearby field not far from here where there is plenty of alfalfa and hay to feed the reindeer," added Santa. On Thursday, Santa was greeted by about 300 kids during his first full day the Mall. Neaby, construction began on the two-story poinsettia tree that will fill the fountain. I have a 14 year old that still believes and don't care if he's 40 and still believes.Now a days its all commercial and that belief is gone.I think we allow kids to be kids.   more ›
