Snowden Exxon Robbed Three Times Since September

Police arrested two people suspected to be involved in one robbery in which coffee was thrown at the gas station's clerk.

  It appears to be a series of unfortunate events occurring at the Exxon gas station near the 8200 block of Snowden River Parkway. The gas station has been robbed three times in less than six months, according to past police reports. Police announced Thursday they made arrests in one of the reported robberies. "We're working with police," said Mirsad Basar, manager of the gas station, who said they have supplied surveillance videos to police. "It's just random, maybe bad luck." The latest robbery involved a man who entered the gas station wearing a yellow bandana covering his face and brandishing a knife, who demanded cash and stole two to three cartons of cigarettes on Jan. 19 around 2 a.m., according to police. good idea except that bail only has to deal with risk of flight, period. It's not supposed to be punitive. If they've never missed a court date and are not likely to flee then they are entitled to a reasonable bond. But, one does have to ask, 10% on a $100,000 bond is $10K, where did they come up with that kind of cash? I hope it's not from robbing gas stations. That's a tidy sum of cash.   more ›

Home Invasion Second in Three Days

Three men reportedly barged into a Hickory Ridge residence and held a man and woman captive in their family room.

  Police said three men, one armed with a handgun, barged into a residence near the 10500 block of Eastwind Way on Wednesday night and held a man and a woman captive inside their family room while the home was ransacked. The men fled when they realized a third person was in the home and had called police. It was the second home invasion reported in Columbia in three days. Police said nothing was stolen and no one was injured in the most recent attack. Police: Pit Bull Puppy Stolen in Columbia Home Invasion

Police said three masked men stole cash and Nike shoes as well as the puppy in the armed robbery.

  Three men, one armed with an assault rifle, stole a pit bull puppy, cash and Nike shoes from a home near the 7500 block of Summer Blossom Lane on Dec. 17, according to police. Police said the men entered through the front door around 1:50 a.m., ordered a male and a female victim to the floor in the master bedroom at gunpoint, then proceeded to rob the residence. The three men also stole money, a wallet and a cell phone from a victim who was sleeping downstairs, police said. Bicycle Gang Reportedly Robs Man in Oakland Mills: Crime Roundup

Columbia  Robbery A group of seven males on bikes confronted a man in the Oakland Mills Village Center on Dec. 7 at about 9:45 p.m. according to police. Two of them grabbed the man’s jacket and told him to go with them, according to police. The man said he tried to walk away from the group, but they followed him. One of the members of the group hit the man with his bicycle as he told him to hand over his money according to police, then he pulled the man’s jacket off of him, reached into the man’s pants pocket and took his wallet.  The suspects are described as a group of seven black males between the ages of 17 and 20. Police: Man Robbed in Cheesecake Factory Bathroom

Two men reportedly stole the man's watch, cell phone and Nike shoes.

  Howard County police report a man was robbed by two men inside the bathroom of the Cheesecake Factory on Wednesday afternoon. Sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a man told police he walked into the bathroom at the restaurant at which time two men stole his watch, cell phone and Nike shoes. Police have not made any arrests. On Thursday, a police spokesperson said there was no mention of a weapon used in the alleged robbery and that only vague descriptions of the suspects were given. The spokesperson said there was also no video evidence of the possible suspects that could be released at this time. Teen Arrested for Armed Robbery at Community Mailbox

The teen allegedly stole a wallet from a man as he was retrieving his mail.

  Howard County Police have arrested a 16-year-old Columbia teen who was allegedly involved in an armed robbery of a man at a community mailbox near the 10400 block of Fair Oaks in Columbia. The incident took place shortly after 6 p.m. on Nov. 14 when the victim was retrieving his mail from the community mailbox. Dymtro Klopp, 16, of the 6600 block of Dove Cote Drive, along with two other unknown suspects, allegedly approached the victim from behind, placed a gun against his head and demanded money, according to police. The victim turned over his wallet and Klopp, along with the other suspects, fled the scene, according to police. Cedar Lane Robbery and One Big Bird, Stolen: Crime Roundup

  Columbia: Police say a 15-year-old boy was walking on a foot path behind the 5800 block of Cedar Lane on Oct. 28 at about 6:15 p.m. when he was approached by four males. The victim reports the suspects told him to give them his backpack, or they would shoot him, and one of the suspects put his hand near his waistband, implying a gun. According to police, the boy gave them his backpack and they ran toward Eliots Oak Road. Second Robbery in Two Days Reported Near Swift Stream Place

A man was reportedly robbed while walking his dog.

  Police are investigating the possibility that two robberies near Swift Stream Place in the past two days may be related. The latest robbery took place late on Oct. 22 as a man was walking his dog on a footpath between the 10300 block of Swift Stream Place and Little Patuxent Parkway between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m. when he was reportedly robbed by three men, according to police. The suspects allegedly knocked the man to the ground, kicked and punched him, then stole his wallet, cigarettes and a lighter, according to police. Robbers Strike on Route 29 Footbridge: Crime Roundup

  Columbia: Howard County Police are looking for three suspects in connection with a robbery on the Route 29 footbridge who may also have been involved with an attempted break-in on Swift Stream Place. Columbia Crime Roundup: Attempted Robbery of River Hill High Student

The following arrest information was supplied by the Howard County police department. It does not indicate a conviction. Crimes reported from Sept. 28 to Sept. 30.

Attempted Robbery A River Hill High School student was reportedly walking home after a school activity near the 5700 block of Whistling Winds Walk when an unknown suspect allegedly grabbed her backpack from behind on Sept. 28 around 9 p.m. The victim kicked the male suspect, who fled into the woods. Nothing was taken according to police. Residential Burlary An unknown suspect or suspects reportedly used a set of stairs in the rear of a residence near the 5400 block of Thunder Hill Road to access the roof and then enter the residence through a skylight, which was pried open, above the kitchen.
