Week Ahead in Weather: A Mixed-up Forecast

Rain, sun, hot, mild -- the forecast is all over the place this week.

Curly-headed people, take note – temperatures are all over the place this week, but expect it to be humid and maybe rainy all week long. The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures up to the mid-90s for the week ahead, and possible rain most days, starting today, with a 30 percent chance of rain and maybe thunderstorms. Temperatures should be mild, though, rising to just the mid-70s. Temperatures should drop to the mid-60s at night, and there will still be a chance of rain.  Temperatures should rise about 10 degrees Tuesday, peaking in the mid-80s. There’s a lesser chance of rain throughout the day, but NWS is predicting cloudy skies all day and at night, when temperatures drop to about 70 degrees.  The heat is expected to …

Week Ahead in Weather

Rain is coming. Maybe a lot, maybe a little. Be prepared.

We may see rain throughout the week, especially tonight and tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). After that, it’s anybody’s guess.. Today, expect sunny skies and temperatures approaching 90 degrees. According to NWS there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms late tonight, when temperatures drop to around 70 degrees. Tuesday, rain looks like it’s definitely on the agenda. There is an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms and showers during the day, according to NWS, and temperatures should reach about 82 degrees. Rain will likely continue into Tuesday night, according to NWS, when temperatures drop to about 70 degrees. There is also a small chance of rain Wednesday, according to NWS. Otherwise, expect …

Accident Backs Up Afternoon Traffic on Clarksville Pike

A two-car accident snarled traffic but no one was seriously injured.

No one was seriously injured in a two-car accident that tied up Monday afternoon traffic on Clarksville Pike, Howard County police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 108 and Centennial Aveenue around 2:15 p.m. on Monday. A gray Acura SUV collided with a green Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  A Howard County Recreation and Parks employee said he arrived at the accident about a minute after it happened. He said a female passenger of the Acura SUV was too shaken to speak to 911 operators so he took the phone and told police where the accident occurred. At the accident scene , police were still trying to piece together how the accident occurred. Police said the scene will be cleaned up as soon as their investigation is concluded.

Howard County Commuters Could See Hail, High Winds

Storms damaged and flooded the region last night and round two could come today.

With the National Weather Service calling for possible hail, rain and high winds, the Maryland State Highway Administration is warning commuters to take the time to drive safely in central Maryland. SHA tweeted at noon, “Major storms expected throughout MD during p.m. rush hours. Plan ahead and allow extra travel time this afternoon.” Southwest Baltimore County bore the brunt of last night’s storm, with several houses flooding and losing roofs around Halethorpe. According to NWS, there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation this afternoon, turning into a 90 percent chance of precipitation with showers and thunderstorms into early Saturday.
