The MPSSAA released the brackets for the state tournament on Monday.
Glenelg and Centennial High Schools are the top two seeds in the South region of the Maryland Athletic Association boys’ lacrosse playoffs (3a/2a), which takes place this month. Both Glenelg (12-2) and Centennial (12-2) received first round byes. The third, fourth and fifth seeds in the South region—Mt. Hebron (11-3), Marriots Ridge (8-6), and Atholton (6-8)—also received first round byes. In the first round, Wilde Lake (4-9) will face off against River Hill (3-6), Reservoir (5-4) will play Hammond (0-8) and Northeast, Anne Arundel (5-9) will play Long Reach (2-9). Lacrosse players in Howard County now have a new store to get their heads restrung or broken shafts replaced. Lacrosse Unlimited, a national chain of retail lacrosse stores, opened its 38th location in Columbia on Wednesday. The company, which got its start in New York, only sells lacrosse equipment and clothing. "We're strictly lacrosse," said Columbia store manager Nick Kazimer. "I've been playing since I was 3. Ninety percent of our store managers are former players. We know the technologies that are put into the heads and shafts." Kazimer said the company chose to open in Columbia because lacrosse is booming in Howard County. "Howard County is huge with lacrosse and it's still growing here, that's the main reasone we came here," said…
