Columbia Armed Robbery - Windstream Drive A woman was robbed by a man who approached her parked vehicle and displayed a gun near the 10000 bock of Windstream Drive on Jan. 31 around 9 p.m. The woman gave the man money, he demanded more, and when she told him she had no more, he fled. Police described the suspect as a thin black male, abut 5-foot-6 inches, wearing a gray or white hooded sweatshirt and carrying a small pistol. Commercial Burglary Attempt - Eden Brook Apartments A witness saw a person wearing dark clothing exit the fitness center at Dominion/ Eden Brook Apartments near the 7300 block of Eden Brook Drive, but nothing appeared to be missing when police responded around 9 p.m. on Jan. 30. The flood watch begins at 3 p.m. and continues through late tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Howard County starting at 3 p.m. today through late tonight. NWS reported a line of heavy rain is making its way through the Shenandoah Valley and will hit the Baltimore and Washington metro areas this afternoon and evening. NWS predicted rainfall beween one and one and a half inches over a very short period of time. BGE announced that residents should expect wind gusts between 40 to 50 mph. “While we have enjoyed unseasonably mild weather the past two days, we expect conditions to drastically change with an approaching cold front that will likely bring thunderstorms and high wind and wind gusts to BGE’s service area later this evening,” said Jeannette M. Police found a rear window pried open to gain entry. The Quadrantids - a short, but oft-impressive meteor shower - should dazzle tonight.
Keep an eye open for the first meteor shower of the year in the hours before dawn Friday. The Quadrantids meteor shower should be quite a show, with 60 - 200 meteors per hour, according to Space.com. The National Weather Service is forecasting clear skies (and temperatures in the high 20s), but a bright, waning gibbous moon may steal the show. Meteor showers are named after the constellations from which they seem to radiate - we had the Persieds, the Orionids, the Tuarids, the Leonids, all fairly straight forward. Renovations to the downtown restaurant were last done in 1985.
Clyde's president Tom Meyer announced this week $4 million in improvements to the kitchen, bathrooms, decor and patio that would take place over four to six weeks starting in January. Clyde's and The Tomato Palace will be closed during renovations, said Meyer. The Tomato Palace shares a kitchen with Clyde's. Do you think Clyde's needs to be renovated? Tell us in comments.
