Local blogger says negotiations with organic foods market are in the final stages.
This story was updated at 5:30 p.m. Citing "multiple informed sources," the Tale of Two Cities blog has reported that Whole Foods Market is in the final stages of negotiations with the Howard Hughes Corp. to lease space in the Howard Hughes Building — the former Rouse Co. headquarters in the Columbia Town Center. Residents are concerned about rental properties, density and traffic.
With only design guidelines to look at and actual site plans not yet on the horizon, residents got a glimpse into what a future Columbia Town Center will look like, and they had a lot to say about it. Some were excited about the possibilities while others were concerned about the potentially large number of rental properties and what new construction will do to the character of existing neighborhoods. Howard Hughes Corp. officials are filing required documents regarding a mixed-use plan for two, 12-acres plots near the Mall in Columbia.
Howard Hughes Corp. representatives on Thursday were delivering required documents that spell out the scope of the proposed development in downtown Columbia to the Howard County Design Advisory Panel, according to a statement sent to Columbia Patch. The documents will include information on the number of units planned for the 12-acre lots known as parcels C and D, as well as the Final Development Plan and design guidelines for the Warfield neighborhood, according to Jean F.
