If Montgomery County residents are thinking of hopping across the county line for groceries to avoid paying their county's new bag tax, they should think again. Prince George’s and Howard counties are among the jurisdictions statewide that are exploring following in Montgomery County's footsteps and imposing a tax on plastic bags used at retail establishments. Yes, please. Let's have a bag tax, but I don't think we should stop there. I think every container (e.g., peanut butter jars, barbecue sauce bottles, string bean cans) that holds an item should be taxed. That will then lead to us all bringing our own Tupperware containers with us to shop. Imagine, everything can be dispensed from large vats.   more ›
