Poll: Should MD 32 Expand to Four Lanes Through Clarksville?

A recent fatal accident has brought the stretch of road between I-70 and 108 in Clarksville under examination.

  After an Ellicott City man was killed in a fatal accident on Route 32 in Clarksville on Nov. 13 the safety of the high speed, two lane road has been called into question. Currently the stretch of road where the fatal accident occurred is a two-lane road that experiences traffic during rush hour. On Nov. 13, the fatal accident was caused by the driver of a flatbed truck losing control of the vehicle while driving southbound, skidding into the northbound lane and striking a Jeep driven by an Ellicott City man who later died at the hospital, according to police.  A Maryland State Highway Administration spokesperson said officials are still examining the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine exactly what happened. Ever since they changed the time and cycle of the lights, getting to the 108 exit off of 32 is near impossible around 5-6 pm. The back up goes all the way down 32 and what used to take only a few minutes to get to the light at 108, now takes about 20. UPDATED: One Dead in Sunday Collision, Child Seriously Injured

Maryland State police said a woman was killed after her vehicle was engulfed by flames.

  Update - Oct. 8 - 10:15 a.m. Monday One woman was killed and a young child was seriously injured after a 3-car accident in which the woman's car was engulfed in flames early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 near Waterloo Road in Columbia, according to the Maryland State Police. Sadia Soto was killed in the accident, according to police. Soto's age and hometown were not released by police. State police spokesperson Sgt. Marc Black said Soto was pulling a trailer with a 1997 Toyota 4Runner on I-95 when the trailer became disengaged. Soto pulled over and attempted make repairs on the trailer. When she pulled over, the trailer was struck by a 2010 Acura TL. Moments later, according to Black, a 2011 Jeep became involved in the accident, …

One Passenger Remains in Critical Condition after Fatal Accident

Two other passengers involved in a fatal accident early Thursday morning in Columbia have been discharged from the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

  Obafami Ilupeju, 21, remains in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center on Monday as a result of injuries sustained during a fatal collision on Columbia Road which killed a Columbia teen early Thursday morning, according to a shock trauma spokesperson. The spokesperson said two other passengers, Dontrell Milner, 20, and Tres Quante Jones, 20, were released from shock trauma on July 12. Shaquan Jamal Curtis, 17, of Columbia, was killed in the collision after the 2003 Audi A6 he was driving struck a tree around 3 a.m. Thursday morning. Police said speed was believed to be the primary factor of the collision and that alcohol may have been involved. Police have not responded to requests for more information about…
