Columbia Residential burglary Someone entered an open garage door on the 9600 block of Golden Rod Path early the morning of May 18, according to police. The burglar went through the resident’s vehicles and then went inside the home and stole money from a wallet and a purse. Sometime between 7 p.m. on May 17 and 7 a.m. the next day, someone opened an open garage door on the the 10200 block of Rutland Round Road. The burglar went through the vehicles and stole a wallet with an ID and credit cards. When resident returned home to the 107000 block of Cordage Walk on May 15 at about 11:40 p.m they found their front door open. Columbia Residential burglary A resident of the 7500 block of Broken Staff reported her Apple MacBook was stolen on April 26 between 1 and 5:30 p.m. According to police, there was no sign of forced entry. Police say a resident of the 5400 block of Columbia Road lost his keys sometime between April 27 and May 2. His keychain had his address and phone number on it. On May 2, the resident found his keys on the floor, just inside the front door. He reported several items missing, including cameras, purses, jewelry and a laptop. The alarm was sounding when a resident returned home to the 10900 block of Trotting Ridge Way on May 6 at about 5:30 p.m., according to police. Police have not identified a suspect in the case of a woman found shot to death in her car in Columbia. At about 9 a.m. on May 4, police said they received a call from someone who said they saw a woman who appeared injured in a car on the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road. Police said they found the woman, Deborah Castellano, 47, in a Toyota Corolla parked in a parking lot. She had been shot multiple times, according to police. “Police are still investigating possible suspects and motives,” according to police spokesperson Mary Phelan. Federal authorities say the gang members have been operating in Howard County for three years.
Nearly 20 alleged members of the Howard County Bloods gang were indicted Wednesday on federal racketeering charges after 25 search warrants were executed across the county, including in Elkridge, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland. Two of the alleged Bloods members and three additional people were also charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs. “The indictment unsealed today shows that no community is immune to gang and drug activity, but it also demonstrates our commitment to ridding our neighborhoods of this criminal element,” Howard County Police Chief William J. Howard County Police are asking for help after a woman was found shot to death in a car in Columbia Saturday, according to a statement released by police. Someone called police at about 9 a.m. after seeing a woman who “appeared to be injured” in a car on the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road, according to police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn. When police arrived, they found Deborah Castellano, 47, dead with multiple gunshot wounds in a Toyota Corolla parked in parking lot, according to Llewellyn. Police say they think Castellano had recently moved to the area and was living in the apartment building near where she was shot. Columbia Robbery On March 1 at about 10:45 p.m. a taxi driver was dispatched to the Owen Brown Village Center where he picked up four male passengers. He was directed to pull over on the 6700 block of Sewells Orchard Drive, when one of the rear passengers began choking him with a belt and the front passenger pointed a handgun at him, threatening to kill him. Columbia Robbery Police say on Feb. 23 at about 9:20 p.m. a pizza delivery driver was confronted by two people – one with a gun – on the 6300 block of Windharp Way. The robbers stole cash, a wallet and cell phone, according to police, then assaulted the driver and fled. Ellicott City Commercial burglary Police say someone entered the main door of the building on 8167 Main Street on Feb. 23 between 6 and 10 p.m. then smashed the glass doorway entrance to Sweet Cascades candy shop. Police say the suspect went to the store a few hours before returning to rob it.
Police are looking for a man in connection with the second robbery of the same Howard County gas station in a less than a month. A reward of up to $500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Police responded to a reported robbery at the Exxon gas station on the 8200 block of Snowden River Parkway in Columbia at about 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 19. Investigators say a man entered the business wearing a yellow bandanna covering his face, showed a knife and demanded money. Police say the clerk gave the money to the man, who also took several cartons of cigarettes before leaving, getting into the passenger side of a waiting vehicle. More details emerge in the shooting at Taco Bell near Snowden River Parkway.
The Taco Bell manager who was shot early Sunday morning had left the restaurant with a second employee to investigate a suspicious person outside when two unknown suspects wearing masks appeared near a dumpster and one shot the man multiple times in the torso, according to police.
