Columbia BikeAbout Saturday, Learn About History and Future of Columbia

The 13-mile self-guided bike tour will take begin on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.

  Have bike, will learn? If that's true for you, then this Saturday's BikeAbout provides a perfect opportunity to cruise around Columbia learning about the past, present and future of the dream city. The free annual event will take residents on a 13-mile self-guided tour through parts of Oakland Mills, Long Reach and Town Center. "It's just a lovely ride through some of the beautiful areas in Columbia," said Barbara Hurewitz Kellner, director of the Columbia Archives and an organizer of the BikeAbout. "Riders will see things they probably didn't know existed in Columbia," added Kellner. Explore Columbia Homes on Sunday

The Columbia Home Tour will take residents through five distinct homes in Columbia on Sunday.

  It's a series of open houses, but the houses aren't for sale—the annual Columbia Home tour takes place this Sunday. On tap for the tour are five homes; an original Pacesetter model in Oakland Mills, a large colonial in Kings Contrivance, a Tuscan 'castle' in River Hill, a couple's first townhouse in River Hill and an eclectic condo in a Wilde Lake high rise, according to the Columbia Home Tour's fact sheet. The event costs $25 for tickets purchased on Sunday and proceeds will be used to benefit Bridges to Housing Stability, a Howard County charity dedicated to preventing homelessness.
