Clyde's of Columbia re-opened Monday after undergoing $4 million in renovations over the past three months. The new space has an updated interior, renovated restrooms and an upgraded kitchen. The restaurant began renovations after announcing a new 10-year lease with Howard Hughes Co. at the location on the Lakefront. Clyde's posted the above photos on the restaurant's Facebook page. Clyde's of Columbia is currently undergoing a $4 million renovation.
Clyde's of Columbia has kindly posted the photos above of the ongoing renovation process on their Facebook Page. Construction on the $4 million remodeling job began in early February and is scheduled to be finished by April, according to Clyde's President Tom Meyer. The restaurant is re-doing their bathrooms, dining area, kitchen and looking to add a pergola on the patio, according to Meyer. Once renovations begin, the lakefront restaurant will be closed for eight weeks.
Clyde's of Columbia will close on Feb. 4 to begin $4 million in renovations and will be closed for eight weeks afterwards, according to Clyde's corporate offices. The popular lakefront restaurant announced in October it would be making improvements to the kitchen, bathrooms, decor and patio as part of the renovation process. The Tomato Palace will also be closed during renovations as it shares a kitchen with Clyde's, according to Tom Meyer, Clyde's president, who announced the renovations last year. At the time, Meyer said the restrooms at Clyde's were in "dire need" of renovations. The lakefront restaurant will be getting its first renovations in 25 years, according to its president.
Clyde's has been a staple of the Columbia lakefront for more than 30 years, which is why Tom Meyer says the location is long overdue for a makeover. Meyer, president of Clyde's Restaurant Group, told Patch the restaurant will be on a new lease and will see several changes from renovations starting in late January. "It has been over 25 years since we were able to renovate the place, and we just needed to do it," Meyer said. The specifics of the renovation have not been finalized, but he gave a hint at what changes are coming. "Basically, we're going to completely redo the men's and women's rooms, we're going to do some work behind the scenes in the kitchen and the floors," Meyer said.
