Columbia Teen Indicted in Long Reach Stabbing Death

Xavier Trevon Bates is charged in the July 27 death of Christian Lendell Hall.

A Howard County grand jury has indicted 18-year-old Xavier Trevon Bates in the stabbing death of Christian Lendell Hall, 17, from Columbia. Bates, of 9089 Lambskin Lane, was originally charged with first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault in Hall’s death, according to Howard County police. The grand jury indictment updated the charges to first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and first and third-degree burglary. Police were called to the home of Christian Lendell Hall, 17, at the 8700 block of Airybrink Lane--the Sierra Woods apartment complex--around 10 p.m. July 27. He was found in an apartment building hallway with multiple stab wounds, according to police. He was taken to Howard County General Hospital, …

Community Event Set in Aftermath of Long Reach Stabbing

The community will begin the process of "healing" after a fatal stabbing last week, council member Calvin Ball says.

The public is invited to an event Friday at Long Reach High School to discuss safety in the neighborhood in light of the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Christian Lendell Hall. Howard County Councilman Calvin Ball is organizing the event, which starts at 6 p.m. and will include members from the Howard County Police Department. “We’re going to invite folks out [so] we can ensure everyone has accurate information and can begin the process of healing in the community," Ball told Patch Wednesday night, Aug. 3. Neighbors: Long Reach Teen’s Stabbing Death is ‘Heartbreaking’

Residents at the Sierra Woods apartments in Long Reach were reeling with grief and shock Thursday, following the stabbing death of their neighbor, 17-year-old Christian Lendell Hall. Hall was stabbed multiple times while in his home on the 8700 block of Airybrink Lane at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to Howard County Police.
