The restaurant opened March 15.
While east Columbia boasts popular Indian restaurants like Royal Taj and House of India, getting a curry fix can be difficult on the west side. That changed last month when Curry and Kabob opened in Wilde Lake Village Center on March 15. Located next to The Melting Pot and Bagel Bin, the restaurant offers both Indian and Nepalese cuisine. "We've been doing well," said owner Chandra Chhantyal on Wednesday, about the restaurant's first 15 days in business. Business is likely to pick up soon. On Wednesday local food blog HowChow published a review saying, "it's a talented kitchen in a personable restaurant." The restaurant offers Indian signatures like chicken tikka masala ($14.95), lamb curry ($15.95), and garlic naan ($3.50); but also …

Members of the school safety task force met with PTA officials in Howard County. Lisa Schlossnagle has the report on her blog, Lisa B, Mrs. S.
The affects of the hack could be felt through multiple Howard County blogs.
HoCo Well and Wise reported they were hacked recently, which caused Google to alert readers that the site may contain malware Thursday morning, the affects of which spread to other Howard County blogs. A user attempting to access HoCo Well and Wise was met with a warning saying the site contains malware and "your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site." Sharon Sopp, a spokesperson for Howard County General Hospital, which runs the blog in conjunction with Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Howard County Library, said the cause of the problem was bad code in the blog, which was removed on Thursday. Jill Smith, the web and multimedia manager for HCGH, wrote in an email that although the problem has been fixed it may take up to 24 …

Ken Ulman co-hosts fundraiser with Howard County official supporting Marylanders for Marriage Equality.
On Tuesday, I received an email inviting me to an event co-hosted by Howard County Executive Ken Ulman and Howard County Register of Wills Byron Macfarlane. The event is “in support of marriage equality in Maryland,” specifically benefiting the umbrella group Marylanders for Marriage Equality. As Joe Biden would say, this is a big [expletive] deal. It’s perhaps not as a big a deal as it would have been a month ago, before President Obama openly declared his support for same-sex marriage. But, still, politicians who have (purportedly) aspiration for higher office publically fundraising in support of same-sex marriage signals a shift in mind-set. (And if Ulman doesn’t run for governor, I would expect a lot of people to be asking for their …
The other side of the Integrity Report.
A report released Monday by the State Integrity Investigation project drew some scathing remarks from a spokeswoman for Gov. Martin O'Malley. The report gave Maryland a D- on its "Corruption Risk Report Card." Raquel Guillory, a spokeswoman for the governor, sent an email detailing what the O'Malley administration sees as problems with the report, after Patch highlighted its release. Here is what Guillory had to say. Hey: I can't believe you guys put this up on your website without contacting us. The whole thing is very sketchy. The "reporter" who called me about this we found out actually works for the organization. He wanted reaction to our grade but wouldn't send us a copy of the report or give us any specifics. The report is very …

Interesting. For the last point (about the mid year review of the budget) it actually sounds like the Governor agrees: there is no mid-year review. The integrity report mentions the budget information online, which it calls "window dressing", so I'm not sure the Governor is refuting the reports criticisms. Many other states received good grades, so it's not like this group is out to get anyone. …   more ›
