Readers' Choice Winner: Anthony Richard Barber Shop

Tony Tringali has been cutting boys' hair since 1967 at this Wilde Lake institution.

This week we asked our readers where the best place in the city is to get a kid’s haircut. Your choice—Anthony Richard Barber Shop. Anthony "Tony" Tringali originally opened the shop with a friend in Wilde Lake village center in 1967. And despite many businesses leaving, Tringali remains. He specializes in cutting boys’ hair and rows of pictures of the children who have come to his shop paper his walls. Besides the photos, Tringali’s 100-year-old traditional barbershop chairs stand out in his shop.  “They have so many loyal customers that have been coming to their place for 40 years,” said Bernice Kish, manager of the Wilde Lake Community Association in a 2010 Patch interview, “It’s an institution.” Next week we'll be asking readers where …

I came to Columbia in 1972 and Tony has cut my hair ever since. The shop is a friendly place and so all the barbers that have worked there over the years. They have discounts for seniors and it is a great place to relax and be served with competence and good conversation.   more ›
