Home Invaders Steal Safe in Columbia: Howard County Crime Reports

All information was provided by the Howard County Police Department.

Columbia Robbery - Home Invasion Three men, wearing all black, knocked on the door of home in the 9000 block of Watchlight Court around 3 a.m. on March 28. When a resident answered, one of the men punched the resident in the face. The men then pushed open the door and ran to a second-floor bedroom. They kicked the locked bedroom door open and stole a safe from the closet that reportedly contained prescription medicine and credit cards. The three men fled out the front door with the safe. The suspects were described by police as three black males, all about 20, one was heavyset, the other two had thin builds. All three were wearing black clothing. Police: Oakland Mills Students Had BB Guns in Attack on Cab Driver

Facebook, call records and evidence left at the scene led police to arrest the students, according to charging documents.

  In charging documents filed in Howard County District Court, police officers wrote that the four Oakland Mills High School students who allegedly attempted to rob a taxi driver causing him to crash into a tree, used BB guns and had planned out the robbery the day before. Investigators said they used evidence that included a prepaid phone, a pair of glasses left in the cab, karate equipment, BB gun supplies and Facebook to discover the identities of the four students who were charged with attempted murder and armed robbery. Police wrote they first brought “Woody" Rousseau, 17, in for questioning. Baltimore Man Sentenced for Columbia Mall Jewelry Store Robbery

The man along with two others stole 35 Rolex watches from the jewelry store.

A Baltimore man was sentenced to 11 years for his involvment in a 2011 armed robbery of Arthur Edward Jewelers inside the Mall in Columbia. Reginald D. Dargan, Jr., 21, was sentenced to 135 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release./ He also was ordered to pay $33,255 in restitution earlier this month after being found guilty of the robbery, according to the Baltimore division of the FBI. According to the FBI, Dargan along with two other men, Deontay Harvey and Aaron Pratt, drove to the mall on March 30, 2011. Dargan was armed with a knife and the other two were armed with handguns, said the FBI. They entered the jewelry store, threatened the employees with their weapons, and had one of the employees empty the watch …

Police Release Video of Suspect in Hotel Robbery

Police say the man implied he had a gun before taking cash from the clerk.

The Howard County Police Department is hoping the public can help identify the suspect in an armed robbery at a hotel, and the department is offering a reward of up to $500 for information that leads to an arrest. According to police, a man walked into the main entrance of the Comfort Inn on the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup on Dec. 14 and approached the clerk. The man lifted his shirt, implying he had a gun in his waistband, police said.  The man gave the clerk a plastic bag and demanded money, according to police; the clerk complied and the robber left on foot.  Police describe the robber as a tall, black man with average build, a goatee and a thin, chin-strap beard.  Police said the robber was wearing a winter hat with …

Police: Gunmen Tie Up Columbia Dry Cleaning Employees, Steal Cash

The armed robbery happened as the business was closing, police said.

  Two employees of Zips Dry Cleaning in Town Center were tied up and held at gunpoint by two armed robbers inside the business around 8 p.m. on Friday, according to police. The employees were not injured, but shaken up, according to the evening manager Kevin Kim. "I was just thinking about how to stay safe," said Kim on Tuesday. Just before the robbery on Friday, Kim said he was taking trash out of the rear door to the dumpster when he was confronted by an armed masked man who was waiting for him at the door. Armed Robbery in Mall Parking Lot, Chat Line Date Gone Wrong: Crime Roundup

    Columbia: A victim told police that he was robbed at gunpoint at The Mall in Columbia on Nov. 2, just before 9 p.m..  According to the victim, three men approached him in the parking lot of the AMC Theater and struck up a conversation, then demanded money. According to the victim, one of the suspects showed a handgun. The victim told police that he gave one of the men his wallet, and then they got in a black Volkswagen and drove away. The victim got in his car, called 911, and followed them to Green Mountain Circle, according to police. Officers stopped the suspects and arrested three Columbia men, ages 18, 18 and 19. Victim Tells Court Harrowing Tale of Faking Injury to Escape Columbia Gunman

The alleged victim of a kidnapping, robbery and attempted murder testified Monday that three armed men approached him in the parking lot of a Germantown apartment complex, ordered him into the backseat of his own Range Rover, forced him to withdraw cash from an ATM and tried to shoot him after taking him to a secluded patch of woods. “It was the most frightening scenario I’ve ever seen,” said Henry Ihienkonye, whom police said evaded his captors by faking a gunshot wound. Armed Robbery in Long Reach: Columbia Crime Roundup

The following arrest information was supplied by the Howard County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Armed Robbery Three unknown suspects, all with dreadlocks, one armed with a gun, another armed with a knife approached a man who was on foot at the Long Reach Exxon station at 6000 Foreland Garth around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. One of the suspects asked the man for a dollar, then allegedly displayed the gun and told the man to give the suspects his money, according to police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn. One of the other suspects displayed the knife. The victim gave the suspects his money. Police are seeking suspects. Armed Robbery Near Hammond High School

The following information was provided by the Howard County Police Department.

  Armed Robbery - Columbia A male was allegedly assaulted by two unknown males in their late teens to early 20s while walking on the path between Hammond High School and South Columbia Baptist Church on Tuesday around 2:00 p.m. One of the unknown males reportedly displayed a knife during the assault. The victim dropped his headphones during the altercation, which the suspects reportedly took when they fled. Commercial Breaking and Entering - Columbia An unknown suspect allegedly broke into an office building by unknown means near 7000 Columbia Gateway Drive between 5 p.m. on Monday and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The suspect stole cash from a locked safe.  And in Ellicott City, a CVS was allegedly robbed at syringe-point on Wednesday morning.

Armed Robbery on Eliots Oak Road: Howard County Crime Roundup

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Columbia: Robbery Shortly after 11 p.m. on April 9, a suspect displayed a handgun to a victim on the 5400 block of Eliots Oak Road and demanded cash. The victim complied and the suspect fled. Ellicott City: Robbery Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on April 10, a suspect entered the Sunoco Gas Station, on the 9300 block of Baltimore National Pike, displayed a rife and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect took cash from the register and fled, but police located the suspect and arrested him. Police said the suspect is a juvenile, 17, and did not specify whether charges would be made.
