DPZ: New Symphony Woods Plan Has Not Been Submitted

The county's Department of Planning and Zoning said they have not made a decision on where the new plan is in the 16-step Downtown Columbia approval process.

  Columbia Association's president Phil Nelson said on Friday afternoon that the first phase of a new plan to develop Symphony Woods would start at step nine in the downtown approval process -- where the previous central fountain plan left off. However, Howard County's Department of Planning and Zoning, which guides the approval process, said CA has not submitted the plan to them and have not yet made a decision on where it will be in the planning process. Kimberly Flowers, Deputy Director of Public Affairs for Planning and Zoning, said the county will have to see the plan in order to determine how it relates to the approved Final Development Plan (FDP) of the original redevelopment plan for Symphony Woods.
