Slow Cooker Recipes for Fall

Make these tasty fall slow cooker recipes using your favorite fall fruits and vegetables.

Fall is the time for hearty, warm meals—what better way to cook in the fall than using your slow cooker? Simmer these fall-ingredient (think pumpkins, apples, and squash) slow cooker recipes in your pot, and you’ll feel warm into the winter. Apple Crumble Crock Pot Recipe Ingredients: 4-5 cooking apples, peeled and sliced 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1/2 cup flour  3/4 cup rolled oats 1 teas ground nutmeg 1 teas ground cinnamon 4 T butter, softened Directions: Lightly butter the crockpot and lay the apple slices at the bottom of the crock. With fall getting into full swing, there’s nothing more iconic than seeing that white bag of Macintosh apples in the produce section of the grocery store. “Apples are a good source of fiber and with some cheese or peanut butter make a great balanced snack,” said Amanda Hillesland, a dietician at Howard County General Hospital. But eating them is just one aspect of an apple’s benefits. Picking them is also a healthy and fun activity. Visiting an orchard to pick apples is “great family fun and exercise," Hillesland said.
