Of course nobody will be using Symphony Woods or the surrounding area at all during concerts at…Read More Merriweather Post Pavilion since HB1514, as sponsored primarily by Del. Guy Guzzone, was passed into law this year. MPP/Howard Hughes succeeded in their special interest lobbying effort to get MD State law changed to prevent any reasonable limits on amplified sound and concert noise. Thanks to this change in the law, Merriweather will be able to inflict sound up to 95 decibels within a quarter mile of their "venue" - this includes the entire Symphony Woods park property and all the area that is to be developed as described above. Can you imagine taking your family to the new multi-million dollar Inner Arbor park at Symphony Woods and being blasted with noise as loud as a jet plane at takeoff for hours on end? And they'll be able to create this level of noise from 9AM UNTIL 11:30PM!!! This is what passage of HB1514 brings to tens of thousands of Columbia residents who live near MPP. And yes, you'll be able to here the noise from 2 or more miles away as Rob Kay and others are already aware.
Just remember to thank Del Guzzone for helping to destroy the tranquil possibilities for Symphony Woods, Inner Arbor, or whatever gets built, by making sure Howard Hughes & Merriweather "got theirs" ($$$) and the rest of us get a Columbia that is an even worse place to live.
