Court Docs Shed Light on Slain Blogger's Relationship with Daughter

A well-known local writer once described the daughter who is accused in his killing as "the sweetest person."

Blogger Dennis Lane, whom police say was killed in a plot orchestrated by his 14-year-old daughter, was an involved parent whose goal was to help his daughter be more independent, according to court documents from a 2008 custody case. Morgan Arnold is being held on murder charges along with Jason Bulmer, Arnold's 19-year-old boyfriend, whom police say stabbed Dennis J. Lane to death inside his Ellicott City home on May 10. Lane was Arnold's father. Police said that for two months Arnold and Bulmer had been discussing killing Lane, a well-known blogger and real estate agent. One of the trendiest luxury cars on the planet will be in a garage near you.

  It has the look of a Jaguar, the speed of a sports car and runs on absolutely no gas. For years, gearheads have watched as Tesla Motors developed a line of luxury electric cars. The company suffered set backs, faced questions, but today it's beginning to look like the future of automobiles. This month, Consumer Reports declared the Tesla Model S "is our top-scoring car." The vehicle received a 99/100 on the magazine's rating scale. On Monday, one family in Wilde Lake who has patiently waited for their own Tesla Model S, finally got the car of their dreams. 11-Year-Old Jessup Student Pitches to Warren Buffett

The Howard County student is in Omaha, Neb. as a finalist for Warren Buffett's Secret Millionaires Club’s “Learn and Earn, Grow Your Own” contest.

Krissa Hillman is giving the public an enticing reason to buy one of her cupcakes. The 11-year-old student at Bollman Bridge Elementary in Jessup has crafted a business idea to raise money for local literacy initiatives. Hillman started Cupcakes for Literacy, a business that bakes and sells cupcakes -- from chocolate, vanilla, red velvet and mint -- to collect revenues for programs or entities devoted to teaching children how to read. Her first cupcake offering helped raise $258 for her school’s library. The idea has caught the idea of business mogul Warren Buffett, who selected Hillman as a finalist for his Secret Millionaires Club’s “Learn and Earn, Grow Your Own” challenge for kids aged 7 to 16. Burglars Enter Unlocked Garages: Crime Roundup

Columbia Residential burglary  Someone entered an open garage door on the 9600 block of Golden Rod Path early the morning of May 18, according to police. The burglar went through the resident’s vehicles and then went inside the home and stole money from a wallet and a purse.  Sometime between 7 p.m. on May 17 and 7 a.m. the next day, someone opened an open garage door on the the 10200 block of Rutland Round Road. The burglar went through the vehicles and stole a wallet with an ID and credit cards. When resident returned home to the 107000 block of Cordage Walk on May 15 at about 11:40 p.m they found their front door open.  Although it looked like someone tried to force the door in, according to police, it didn't appear anyone entered the …

This week we can expect showers, maybe even a thunderstorm or two, and warm temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a 40 percent chance of rain Monday, maybe thunderstorms in the afternoon. Otherwise, temperatures should reach the high-70s. Monday night expect mostly cloudy skies and a 30 percent chance of rain with temperatures in the mid-60s.  Temperatures will jump to the high 80s Tuesday, and skies should be sunny during the day.
