Traffic Delays Expected Saturday in Downtown Columbia

About 30,000 concertgoers will flood the area to attend Virgin Mobile's FreeFest starting around 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Howard County Police are warning motorists to expect delays on Saturday due to an expected 30,000 concertgoers attending Virgin Mobile’s FreeFest at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

Police will be directing traffic starting at 10 a.m. in the area of Little Patuxent Parkway, Broken Land Parkway, South Entrance Road and Hickory Ridge Road. 

Police also expect delays on U.S. 29 near Downtown Columbia.

Police plan to close Broken Land Parkway between Little Patuxent Parkway and Town Center Avenue.

  • Metric Marathon (Lakefront, Ellicott City, East Columbia areas, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
  • Columbia Grand Prix (East Linden Church Road, Clarksville 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Columbia Bike About (Kings Contrivance area, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • Wilde Lake High School Homecoming Parade (Twin Rivers Road area, 11 a.m. to noon.)
