Temp May Reach 70 on First Day of Winter

Expect a warm weekend.

Winter? Ha.

Saturday, Dec. 21, is the first day of winter, but it sure won't feel like it, according to the National Weather Service.

Instead, temperatures in the area are predicted to reach the mid-60s and possibly the 70s this weekend.

A high of 58 is predicted Friday, then things start to really warm up, with a high of 62 predicted for Saturday. There's a chance of showers Saturday night.

Sunday temperatures could reach above 70 degrees with a high predicted of 71. Rain could put a damper on the day, with a 50 percent chance of showers. However, if the temperature does hit 71, it would break the record for Dec. 22. The current record is 70 degrees, which was recorded in 1889.
