Faculty Gala Concert, Fall Craft Fair, Mustang Stampede: Howard County Weekend Events

Oakland Mills High School Craft Fair

The 25th annual craft fair brings together over 80 vendors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at OMHS (9410 Kilimanjaro Road, Columbia). Admission is free and craft items can be previewed on the craft fair's website.

Howard Community College Faculty Gala Performance 

The college's music faculty will put on their 8th annual gala performance on Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 per person, $7 for students. The event takes place at Monteabaro Recital Hall (10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia).

Marriotts Ridge High School Mustang Stampede 5k

The Mustang 5k takes place Saturday at the Marriotts Ridge High School starting at 9 a.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Marriotts Ridge Boosters Club. Race starts and finishes at the high school's track (12100 Woodford Drive, Marriottsville).

Health Fair 2013

The NAACP Youth Council is offering free health screenings and information for health needs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a moon bounce, DJ and games. The event takes place at Ridgely Run Community Center (8400 Mission Road, Jessup).

Try Hockey for Free

The Howard County Youth Hockey Club invites kids to come out and play hockey on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Columbia Ice Rink (5876 Thunder Hill Road, Columbia). The event is designed to introduce kids to the sport as part of USA Hockey's "Try Hockey for Free" Day. All equipment will be provided, the event is for children ages 4 to 9. 

Whoo's Up for Owls

Learn about owls up close and personal at this event that starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum (300 Oella Avenue, Ellicott City). The event is geared toward children ages 4+. Cost is $3 and advance registration is required, which can be done by calling 410-887-1081.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Live Auction

Grace Church Parish Hall (6725 Montgomery Road, Elkridge) invites community members to come to a spaghetti dinner and live auction. The auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Dinner costs $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 10.

Slayton House Art Reception

The Bernice Kisch Gallery at Slayton House (10400 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia) will show off work by Bonita Glaser and Jing-Jy Chen "2Artists2Views" watercolors and brush painting. The free event begins at 2 p.m. There will be refreshments and music.

Toys for Tots Fundraiser

Arch Angels Motorcycle club and the United States Marine ask residents to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation at this charity drive, which takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Second Chance Saloon in Columbia (5888 Robert Oliver Place).

History Walk on Main Street Ellicott City

From 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Historic Ellicott City a guide from the Patapsco Heritage Greenway will take visitors on a guided walking tour of the Ellicott City watershed and Main Street. The event is restricted to the first 25 who register.
