DogPark Tour, Symphony of Lights Kickoff: Howard County Weekend Events

Columbia Association Dog Park Tour - The people-only tour of the new Columbia Dog Park will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at 5901 Rivendell Lane. The $135,000 dog park is mostly finished, but not yet open to dogs because the turf needed more time to establish, according to CA. The park is located near Harper's Choice Middle School.

Columbia Town Center Holiday Craft Fair - The craft fair at Historic Oakland Manor (5340 Vantage Point Road, Columbia) begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m.

Dazzle Dash Run at Symphony of Lights - The annual fundraiser for Howard County General Hospital kicks off Saturday with the run through the holiday lights at Symphony Woods in Downtown Columbia. Cost is $30 for an individual, with discounts for group rates. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Backcountry Hike at Benajmin Banneker Park - Discover the wilderness behind Benjamin Bannker park in Oella (300 Oella Ave.) by taking this walk through the trails. Advance registration is required, so call 410-887-1081 to receive time and meet-up information. 

Half-Moon Hike with S'mores - The Robinson Nature Center in Columbia (6692 Cedar Lane) invites families to discover nocturnal animals and then have s'mores by a fire at this evening hike that begins at 6 p.m. at the nature center. The cost is $10 per individual or $25 for a family.

International Survivors of Suicide Day - The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention hosts this event that begins at noon on Saturday at the Miller Library in Ellicott City (9421 Frederick Road). The free event includes lunch, guest speakers, survivors stories and a discussion. Registration is required and can be done by emailing tamara@grassrootscrisis.org.

Dazzle Dash Walk at Symphony of Lights - Don't want to run on Saturday? Well, join the festivites on Sunday for the Dazzle Dash walk through the lights at Symphony Woods. The event begins at 4 p.m. and runs until 7:30, where visitors are welcome to light refreshments and a leisurely stroll through the holiday lights that make up the Symphony of Lights. The cost is $30 per individual, with group rates also available.

Historical Tour of Manor House & Shrine - The approximately one hour tour of the Manor House and Shrine of St. Anthony runs from 2 to 3 p.m. at 12290 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City. Call 410-531-2800 for more information.

Holiday Craft Shop at the Hawthorn Center - Crafts such as jewelry, scarves, textiles, candies, cookies and woodcrafts will be on sale at this event that runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hawthorn Center in Hickory Ridge (6175 Sunny Spring, Columbia, MD.) Free admission.
