Temperatures in the 50s, Inner Arbor Details Tonight: Week Ahead in HoCo

Five things to start your post-Thanksgiving week.


1. Weather - The National Weather Service predicts a mild week ahead with temperatures reaching into the 50s most days and then dropping to the mid 30s at night.

  • Tuesday - partly sunny, high near 52, with a low of 35 at night
  • Wednesday - mostly cloudy with a high near 54 and a low of 45
  • Thursday - a chance of showers, but a high predicted near 60
  • Friday - rain likely with high near 50 and low of 36 at night
2. Find out more about Symphony Woods development tonight - The Inner Arbor Trust will hold a pre-submission community meeting tonight to go into greater detail about plans to develop Symphony Woods at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Rouse Student Services Hall at Howard Community College. Two weeks ago the Trust introduced the design team who are responsible for planning and designing the new features in the park.

3. Holiday Mart this Saturday - Howard County is hosting the 41st annual Holiday Mart at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center this Saturday. The arts and crafts fair will feature work from over 140 juried artisans. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m. at the community center at 2400 Route 97 in Cooksville. The cost is $4 per person to enter.

5. Third Person to Plea in Execution-Style Shooting - The third person involved in the execution-style shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Marriottsville is expected to enter a plea at Howard County Circuit Court on Monday. Laura Christian Karr was charged in the shooting, in which the boy survived. Two others, Donald George Peoples and Chiquita Sketers have been convicted for their involvement. Police said the three adults kidnapped the boy believing that he had taken $200 from them in a marijuana deal, then drove him to a field in Marriottsville and shot him.
