Fall Weather Continues, Halloween Looming: The Week Ahead

Five things to know in Columbia as you start your work week.

A brisk week ahead in weather

The National Weather Service predicts a mostly sunny week with highs in the 50s. Monday should be the nicest, sunny with a high near 66. Tuesday the fall weather continues with a high near 63 and partly sunny.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning showers are predicted. Then sunny weather rounds out the rest of the week with highs expected at about 56 Wednesday, 51 Thursday and 51 Friday.

A frost may hit at nighttime this week, with temperatures reaching into the mid- to low-30s.

County Council legislative public hearing - 7:30 p.m. - Monday

The Howard County Council will meet Monday night to discuss upcoming legislation, including a bill that increases pay by about 2 percent for many county workers. Also on the docket is a bill to buy development rights for a 50 acre plot and a 79 acre plot on Pfefferkorn Road in West Friendship for about $1.5 million and $2.5 million, respectively.

Halloween events

Columbia Association Board of Directors meeting

The Columbia Association's Board meets Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the CA Building (10221 Wincopin Circle). The board's agenda includes a discussion on how to improve communication with the villages, an update on the construction of the new Hobbit's Glen Clubhouse, and the status of the plan to meet American Disability Act requirements at CA facilities.
