Where to Park for Howard County's July Fourth Fireworks 2013

Know where you can and can't park for the Fourth of July 2013 celebration at Columbia's Lakefront.

Parking can be a tricky business with thousands of people descending on Columbia's Lakefront to watch Fourth of July fireworks.

So here's what you need to know, according to Ann Combs from Howard County Recreation and Parks:

  • The Columbia Mall parking lot will be open for parking, except for the lot closest to the lakefront, directly in front of Union Jack's. That lot is reserved for volunteers.
  • The lots directly in front of the lakefront, at the Rouse Building and American Cities Building will both be closed to all vehicles. The Rouse Building lot is part of a construction site, while the American Cities lot holds children's activities and food vendors.
  • The lot at the Central Library will be open for parking, as well as the Toby's lot across the street.
  • The parking garage in front of Columbia Association's Headquarters on Wincopin Circle is reserved for disability parking on the bottom level, and reserved for a private celebration on the top level.
  • The Sheraton Lakefront lot is reserved for VIP's
Also, Little Patuxent Parkway closes at 7 p.m.; so if you're coming later than that, assume you'll have to access lots from South Entrance Road or the mall from Broken Land Parkway.
