Howard County Teams Square Off in Softball Tourney's First Round
No. 3 seed River Hill begins tournament with a bye.
Three MPSSAA first round softball games feature Howard County schools competing against each other.
In the Class 3A tournament, fifth-seeded Mt. Hebron will host 12th-seeded Centennial, seventh-seed Reservoir will face 10th-seed Hammond and eighth-seed Wilde Lake will battle ninth-seed Howard. Mt. Hebron defeated Centennial in both of the previous meetings this season, by scores of 16-2 and 10-0, respectively. Though Reservoir received the higher seed, Hammond has defeated the Gators twice.
River Hill earned a No. 3 seed and a first round bye. The Hawks will play the winner of 6-seed Atholton and 11-seed Annapolis. All of the Class 3A first round games are scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m.

In Class 2A, 10-seed Marriotts Ridge will visit 7-seed Patuxent and 8-seed Oakland Mills will host 9-seed Lackey in a game scheduled for today at 3:30 p.m. Glenelg, which earned a No. 1 seed, will play the winner of Oakland Mills and Lackey in the second round. Oakland Mills and Lackey are slated for today at 4 p.m.
