EverythingDogBlog #171: (Nearly) Wordless Wednesday and De-Lightful Dog Logos - Up Country

EverythingDogBlog recently interviewed Up Country, Inc. Here is what they told us about their adorable logo (and products):

The Logo

“Our logo captures the heart of Up Country – we are dog-centric, although we do make products for our feline friends, too. The dog in the logo is thread-like because that’s what we use to sew our designer collars.

A Positive Hue

“We use green, the color of nature and life to capture the essence of Up Country.”

Why Up Country?

Up Country was created 30 years ago by owner Alice Nichols to fill a void for beautiful pet accessories. At that time there was nothing even remotely decorative available for dogwear and people thought Alice was crazy for her idea. In fact, the name Up Country was chosen so that it could be used for something other than a pet company since it was obvious it would fail! (It didn’t.)

Sweet Success Supports Shelter Dogs

During the past 30 years, Up Country has grown from a collection of 6 collar designs to more than 125, with a variety of other products including treats, futons, and clothing.

Up Country continues, “We support adoption by donating a collar and lead to every dog adopted at our local Rhode Island shelter, the RISPCA – hundreds over the last five years. We work tirelessly to promote adoption: we support rescues all over the country through social medial and donations.

“Up Country manufactures only the finest pet accessories. All our collars, leashes, and harnesses are designed and sewn right here in Rhode Island.”
