What? You say you have a dog but no kids at home? Great! Then you are free to attend dog camp with your dog. Here are two incredible canine opportunities still remaining in the “Summer of 2013”.

What: Goldstock. The 16th year for this event whose 2013 theme is “Aloha Sweet Sixteen” or “Sweet Sixteen Luau Bash”

Where: NE Pennsylvania at a real kids’ camp. Tennis balls. Cabins (or RVs), indoor showers, lake. Silent and live auction. Senior and rescue parade. Demos and classes. CGC and TDI. A bonfire - and a candle ceremony to remember those canine and human friends who cannot be with us. Costume contest. Catching contest. Canine Olympics – dock diving and swimming races. Shopping for T-shirts and calendars and . . . . .about 200-300 mostly goldens and their peeps. Frantic fantastic fun but of course, you can always just chill out with your best friend, too!
When: Labor Day weekend
Why: Raise funds for golden retriever rescues across the country – and have fun doing so!

2. Camp Lucy
Who: You and your best friend
What: Camp Lucy, named after Lucy, a special needs and much-loved Golden Retriever (see photo and logo: credit CRudd), celebrating its 6th year
Where: mid-New Hampshire on a lake with a half-mile long beach. Tennis balls. Huge cabins (or RVs), indoor showers. Friday Night Follies. Silent auction. CGC testing. Quilting, fishing. Bonfires on the beach. Candle ceremony to remember those canine and human friends who cannot be with us. LOBSTER dinner! Gourmet chef from NYC! Animal communicator, Reiki, massage for humans. Vegetarian meals available. About 50 mostly goldens and their peeps. Come for a restful, relaxing yet invigorating weekend.
When: The weekend after Labor Day
Why: Support The Goldstock Fund (see logo: credit CRudd) (and its four other funds) which assists Golden Retriever (and golden-like) dogs in financial need (for medical or transportation costs, e.g.). To honor Lucy and offer activities to enhance the bond between people and dogs of all breeds: proceeds go to grants available to Golden Retriever rescue programs.
