Pit Bulls Rock! Trading Fear for Doggy Kisses

I spend a whole lot of time, often too much time, writing and rewriting most of my blogs. Except for this one. I just have to get this blog out right away!

Elle the Pit Bull has just been named the top therapy dog of 2013! Yippy skippy! She even has her own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EllethePitBull (see photo: Who Couldn’t Love a Face Like This?)

Elle is from North Carolina and her job is to teach kids to read, learn dog safety, and recognize canine body language. She teaches them how to approach dogs and all about dog behavior so they can trade fear for doggy kisses. Elle also helps people overcome prejudice and stereotypes, and visits retirement homes.

Watch the awards ceremony on the Hallmark Channel at 8 pm (7 central) on October 30th.  See Elle work the crowd, including Victoria Stillwell and Betty White.

The American Humane Association (AHA) named Elle the Pit Bull as the Hero Dog of 2013 for several reasons. According to Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO, “As an organization that for years has fought breed-specific legislation (BSL), we are also pleased to honor a breed that has been often been unjustly maligned. We hope that Elle’s story will help to underscore the many tremendously positive qualities of this breed.”

PS – the AHA is the organization that is often present when movies are filmed. Perhaps you have seen their statement in the credits to the effect that no animals were hurt in the filming of this film.
