Is Your Dog Ready for the New Dog Park?

Are you?

EverythingDogBlog #151: Fun at the (Dog) Park Coming Up!

Where is it?

The new Columbia Dog Park will open some time next month – May. It will be located just off Route 108 on Cedar Lane. Yippy Skippy! We have been waiting for it on this side of town for a long time. It promises to be a popular meeting place with dog playground equipment to climb on plus being a location easy to get to for many many people and their dogs.

However, the dog park is not the place to socialize your dog. It is, however, the place to keep up his socialization (to maintain good socialization skills) and for exercise and just plain canine fun!

If you are at all wondering if a dog park is the place for your dog, e.g., if your dog seems reactive on leash when seeing other dogs out on a walk, I strongly encourage you to consult a good positive-reinforcement, reward-based trainer for an assessment prior to your first trip to the park.
