According to CEO Mychelle Blake, the APDT (the Association of Professional Dog Trainers) Board of Trustees wanted something obviously dog-related that would look “fun on a t-shirt” to celebrate their 2014 annual educational conference.

Since Hartford, CT, site of the October conference, is in New England with its stunning fall colors, APDT decided on an autumn dog accompanied by red, orange, and yellow (T-shirts and hoodies are also red to coordinate with the logo).

“We asked the artist to design a dog who could be possibly one of several breeds so it’s not a specific breed but more of a generic dog: that way, the logo is more inclusive,” said Blake.
