EverythingDogBlog #32: Meandering Through March, Doggy Style

What are you doing with your dog this month of March?

Find out what's happening in Columbiawith free, real-time updates from Patch.

http://www.superpetexpo.com/ In a word – educate-entertain-shop-eat-play! Pet expos are Fantastic Fun with food, leashes/collars/toys/treats, dogs, dog sports, dog art, dog books, a puppy playground (perhaps the biggest draw of all) – need I say more? My friend, whimsical dog artist Sara England, will be there (www.saraenglanddesigns.com) with her every-breed art prints and her brand new message boards.

The Super Pet Expo in Chantilly, VA, is now three days! 15-17 March, Friday - Sunday. Meet adoptable pets, and dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals all. Although the Edison, NJ, Super Pet Expo is a tad larger, our Chantilly Super Pet Expo is Super! For a sample and to get in the mood, see videos at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNkhBN0oSig&feature=player_embedded. Leashed pets are welcome but no retractable leashes (flexi’s), please.

2. Azaleas don’t like dogs!

Poison Prevention Week, March 18th to 24th

Did you know that some common plants like begonias are poisonous to animals? Call a begonia, a be-gone-ya! Do you like azaleas? They don’t like dogs.

Get a great free safety pack from the ASPCA which includes a window decal notifying first responders that pets are inside, plus a refrigerator magnet with the Pet Poison Control number – both for the price of receiving great APSCA email updates! http://www.aspca.org/about-us/free-aspca-stuff/free-pet-safety-pack.aspx

Take the ASPCA Pet Poison Quiz at https://www.facebook.com/aspca/app_139899586179967

3. The multi-talented Zuma, realizing that spring is just around the corner, wanted to share his possibly last winter-snow photos with you. Here he is with his favorite fetch toy icicle dubbed the Zumacicle and then catching a snowball, perhaps one of the last of the season.

4. Clipper’s Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter egg hunt for the pups at Clipper’s Canine Café (Savage Mill) on Saturday, March 30, from noon til 3 pm. Cupcakes and prizes and treats and fun and adoptable dogs – what more could a dog ask for? www.clipperscaninecafe.com
