Viewfinder: Kids Take the Stage at the Howard County Spelling Bee

A Clarksville Middle School student took home the top prize and a chance to compete at the national spelling bee in June.

Sixty-two students took part in the Howard County Public Library Spelling Bee March 4 at Centennial High School competing for a spot at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Sam Osheroff, a seventh-grader at Clarksville Middle School, came out on top, correctly spelling the word "deleterious," a noun meaning "to harm in a subtle or unexpected way," according to Merriam-Webster.

Andrew Johnson, an eighth-grader from Wilde Lake Middle School, took home the runner-up trophy.
