HoCo Schools Start Late on Tuesday

Some programs are canceled, according to the Howard County Public School System.

Howard County public schools will open two hours late on Tuesday, March 18, after Monday's school closure due to snow.

On Tuesday, morning pre-kindergarten and RECC programs are canceled, according to the Howard County Public School System, which posted the following on its website regarding start times for other programs and personnel:

Before-school programs sponsored by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks will be delayed two hours.

HCEA: The workday for classroom teachers begins 20 minutes before the scheduled student starting time.

HCEA/ESP: Ten-month, school-based secretaries, clerks, security assistants, paraeducators, health assistants, nurses and interpreters may report 20 minutes before the scheduled student starting time. Twelve-month, school-based secretaries may report two hours later than their normal reporting time. Central office technical employees and central office secretaries may report one hour late.

AFSCME: Employees report to work as scheduled. Individuals designated as "emergency employees" are to follow the procedures established by their supervisor.

FOOD/NUTRITION SERVICES: Employees report on time within safety limits.

HCAA: All administrators report to work at least one hour prior to the scheduled staff start time or request approved leave from the appropriate supervisor.
