MANAGERS TOOLKIT IMPROVES MANAGEMENT AND CAREER PATH SKILLS
Being an effective manager requires a wide array of skills. New and experienced managers will find insights into eight of the most essential managerial skills at The Managers Toolkit. The Association of Community Services (ACS) series of eight two- hour workshops starts October 12, 2011 and runs through May 9, 2012. The series is designed for managers and supervisors who are new to their role, those who want to hone their management skills or who want to work on their career path. Held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. once a month, the sessions, taught by experts, provide insights on how to supervise, hire, present, evaluate manage, and motivate. The eight sessions include: Understanding the Supervisory Process, The Art and Science of Motivation, Managing the Employee as an Individual, Presentation Skills, Performance Evaluations, Managing Conflict, Meeting Management, and Balancing Your Life.
Participants sign up for the full series, which also provides an opportunity to make professional connections in the human services field, and while sharing experiences throughout the year. The program has proved so popular that at the request of participants, ACS has created a Manager’s Network, open to “alumni” of the program. The Manager’s Toolkit is open to both ACS Members and Non-Members, and is appropriate for those in both the non-profit, government and for-profit world. The cost is $200 for ACS members, their staff, and volunteers and $300 for non-members. Sessions will be held at the ACS offices, 10480 Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia, Maryland.
The Association of Community Services is a network of non-profit, for profit, faith-based and government agencies and citizen advocates. Founded in 1963, ACS develops, supports, and promotes the Howard County human services community with education and training, advocacy, and community connections. ####
