Ellicott City Estate Tied to Declaration of Independence for Sale - $10M

The owners of Pimlico Race Track built the manor on the property in 1936.

An Ellicott City home built by the owners of the Pimlico Race Track on property once owned by a signer of the Declaration of Independence is for sale.

The 8,000 square-foot manor home at 3925 Folly Quarter Road sits on 54 acres of property formally owned by Charles Carroll—a wealthy landowner in the American colonies, signer of the Declaration, and a Maryland state senator.

The stone exterior home was built in 1936. It features six bedrooms, stables, a gated driveway, marble floors, a wet bar and a pool. Interior rooms are adorned with wood paneling, multiple fireplaces and marble countertops.

The estate includes an 1,800 square-foot guest house.

The property is currently owned by Jonas and Joan Cash, who bought it in 1992 for $2 million from a Michael A. Jackson, according to Maryland real estate records. Cash ran Active Industry Research (AIR) in Columbia, a company that surveyed radio stations to determine popular new albums, according to the Baltimore Sun. AIR closed in 2005 after due to the rise in companies like Clear Channel forbidding their stations from participating with competitors, reported Billboard Biz.

The property is listed by Creig Northrop of Long & Foster Real Estate.
