is located in a nondescript office building in Charter Plaza off Hickory Ridge Road. But for the community around it, it's clearly a lunchtime favorite.
On Friday, it was packed with young students and workers chowing down on nicely sized sandwiches such as its Big Ben Club and hot reuben. Owner Tom Nash, who opened the deli in 2002, said the Big Ben Club, a combination of bacon, lettuce, tomato and turkey or ham is their customers' favorite sandwich.
"I like to say I provide an excellent deli sandwich," said Nash, "It's fresh and I'm here seven days a week cutting the meat and preparing the sandwiches."
In our vote, the Deli garnered a whopping 58 percent of the vote, for a total of 117 votes. Charter Deli has also been awarded best deli for four straight years by Howard Magazine.
"I've been quite fortunate," said Nash, "Tell your readers I said thank you!"
No problem, Tom. You make an excellent sandwich.
Next week, we'll ask our readers where they go to get their taxes done. (The deadline is looming...)
