SPEAK OUT: 2 Public Hearings on HoCo's Capital Budget Proposal

Share with the Howard County Council which projects you want funded.

Each year, just as citizens are filing their taxes in April, Howard County is getting its finances in order for the coming fiscal year, which starts on July 1.

County Executive Ken Ulman released his nearly $260 million capital budget proposal this week with funding recommendations for building and long-term construction projects.

There are two public hearings where people can give feedback on the budget proposal: at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, and 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28.

The April 9 hearing is for testimony on recreation and parks, housing, agricultural preservation and public works (including transportation, sewer, general county, water, etc.).

The April 28 hearing is for feedback on the operating budget (to be released April 21) and capital budget testimony regarding education, libraries, public safety and corrections.

The hearings will be at the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, in the Banneker Room.

Can't make the hearing but want to submit your feedback? Email your testimony to Council Administrator Sheila Tolliver at councilmail@howardcountymd.gov.
