Report: CA Board Approves $55,000 More for Dog Park

The park is on schedule to open sometime this fall.

Columbia Association's Board of Directors approved an additional $55,000 request for funds to construct a planned dog park in Harper's Choice on Thursday, according to an Explorehoward.com report.

The funds were requested after the department of capital improvement determined the initial $80,000 in capital funding approved for the project wouldn't be enough, according to the department's director Denis Ellis.

The approval of additional funding means the 2.7 acre park planned near Harper's Choice Middle School is on track to open later this fall, according to the Explore Howard report.

Plans for the park include a 2 acre large dog area and a separate 0.7 acre small dog area. Both areas would include separate gates and water stations, while five foot high fencing would separate and surround both areas, according to the plans.

The total capital cost for the park is estimated to be $135,000.
