Report: Amid Controversy, Whole Howard County Domestic Violence Center Board to Resign

A new, county government-appointed board will be put in place.

They have been criticized over an alleged lack of transparency and derided over what seems to be a revolving door when it comes to their executive director position.

And so the board members of the Domestic Violence Center of Howard County are all resigning, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The center has been accused of not disclosing certain information to the county government. And its most recent executive director—the third in the past year—has been banned by the federal government from using federal funding.

That led County Executive Ken Ulman to announce last week that he'd be cutting off funding to the nonprofit agency.

The center's new board will be volunteers appointed by the county government, Ulman told the newspaper.

The new board would be in place by today (March 22), he said. "We will not miss a beat with services."
