Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman didn't have to look far to find a new director of communications—in fact, she looked to the place where she worked just six months ago.

Neuman announced Tuesday that Walinda "Linda" West will lead communications, bringing her experience from the Howard County Economic Development Authority, according to a press release.

Neuman served as president and CEO of the development authority in neighboring Howard County prior to her February appointment to executive in Anne Arundel.

West brings experience working in news media, as well as in public affairs offices for organizations including the United States Department of Agriculture, the Maryland Science Center and the Maryland Lottery, according to the release.

"I am excited to have Linda join our team," Neuman said in the release. "We have worked together in the past, and I know firsthand that her extensive background in communications and public affairs will be a valuable addition to our team."

West has a degree in communications from Eastern University. Her appointment to director of communications became effective July 15.
