Council member Courtney Watson said she received almost 1,000 donations over the past year.

Howard County Council member and candidate for county executive Courtney Watson announced Monday she raised a total of $490,236 over the past year.

The number brings her total cash on hand to $721,238, according to Watson's campaign.

In a press statement, Watson noted she attended 439 community events and meetings in the past year and the near 1,000 donations to her campaign came from every zip code in the county.

“I am committed to the people of Howard County and will continue to work hard to keep our schools, libraries and overall quality of life top in the nation while also figuring out the best solutions to the challenges we face," said Watson in a statement.

All politicians in the state are required to submit campaign finance forms by Jan. 15 to the Maryland Board of Elections. After that, full campaign finance reports are publicly available on the Board of Elections website.
